Combining an experiment with Bougainvillea bracts and a geometric ‘x’ from patterns in Navajo weaving, I draw a simple linear grid using the stems and veins of the paper bracts to determine the connection points. An ‘x’ is placed on each meeting point of the grid at the same orientation. The weight of this particular ‘x’ allows for a total of eight endpoints. By twisting individual x’s new linear formations and patterns can be generated.
