A plastic rectangular box with a an embedded grid is used as a lens for looking at vernacular linear structures—wooden railings, spacing between boards, shadows. As the line breaks into repetition it is transformed into kaleidoscopic patterns. Using these new linear forms as repeat swatches results in patterns reminiscent of the geometric designs we see across cultures from the Navajo's to the Rose windows of European cathedrals.
